The first satellite of the Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) series, the MTG-I imaging satellite, was launched on 13 December 2022.
The MTG system is the most complex and innovative meteorological geostationary system ever built. Its fleet will comprise two imaging satellites and one sounding satellite in orbit 36,000km above the Earth.
MTG’s range of ground-breaking instruments will provide meteorologists with a continuous stream of data from the land, ocean, and atmosphere for Europe, Africa, and beyond.
