Webinar African climate monitoring from space 7 – 8 June 2021
EUMETSAT is holding a webinar on African climate monitoring from space on 7 – 8 June 2021.
This webinar will explain how satellites contribute to gain better knowledge of climate change in Africa, and can help decision makers in various climate-sensitive socio-economic sectors. Jointly organised by EUMETSAT and the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD), the webinar will take place on 7 – 8 June 2021 from 08:00 – 10:00 UTC.

With Africa being the most susceptible continent to climate change, it needs to develop strong science-based climate services that help decision makers define and implement appropriate strategies.
Through this webinar we want to showcase the role of EUMETSAT satellites in monitoring climate from space, and demonstrate how satellite data is crucial for the Green transition and the fulfilment of the Paris Agreement in Africa.
The webinar is organised around two sessions:
- Monday, 7 June from 08:00 – 10:00, we will present EUMETSAT data, tools, trainings, and capacity-building initiatives related to space-based climate monitoring.
- Tuesday, 8 June from 08:00 – 10:00, will be dedicated to case study presentations from users of our data, and panel discussions on the impact that climate observation from space can have on the implementation of climate-related policies in Africa.
