The LI MAG meeting #10 was devoted to:
- Communicating to the LI MAG members the status of the MTG program.
- Communicating to the LI MAG members the status of MTG LI instrument procurement, with particular focus on the status of the Request for Deviations (RfDs).
- Presenting to the LI MAG members the results from the first assessment of the LI Level 2 expected lightning detection performances.
Objectives and outcomes
1. Communicating to the LI MAG members the status of the MTG program
The objective was accomplished by having the EUMETSAT MTG System Manager reporting on the status of the program.
2. Communicating to the LI MAG members the status of MTG LI instrument procurement with particular focus on the status of the Request for Deviations (RfDs)
The objective was accomplished by having key EUMETSAT and ESA engineers reporting on: i) the status of the LI procurement, ii) the assessment of the expected Level 1b performances following the latest instrument characterisation done by industry, and iii) the status of the RfDs.
3. Presenting to the LI MAG members the results from the first assessment of the LI Level 2 expected lightning detection performances
The objective was accomplished by having EUMETSAT remote sensing scientists presenting the details of the analysis that was undertaken to derive the LI Level 2 expected performances. Finally, the future steps of the analysis were presented. These are meant to complement/refine the results already available.
