The main purpose of the meeting is to bring together the Heads of the Meteorological and Hydrological Services of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan to discuss EUMETSAT’s ongoing and future programmes and their impact on shielding communities in the region.

The event will focus on the use of meteorological satellite data in the invited countries, with emphasis on Early Warning for All – the United Nations initiative aimed at protecting life on Earth from hazardous weather events through early warning systems.

Updates on the new Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellite, as well as EUMETSAT’s contribution to the European Union’s Copernicus programme, will also be presented. A key discussion point will be the gathering of feedback from the participants on the use of meteorological satellites in their respective countries and foster potential regional cooperation.
