This week's image of week is of the Moon behind the Earth and it was captured by the Meteosat Third Generation - Imager 1 weather satellite on 6 April 2023.
The Moon's well-known properties, such as its reflectivity and stable surface, are used to fine-tune and validate the accuracy of satellite instruments in space.
The large image above was also captured by the Flexible Combined Imager on Meteosat Third Generation Imager 1, on 1 September 2023 at 10:50 UTC.
