Image of the week: Hurricane Rafael

This week’s image of the week is of Hurricane Rafael. The image was captured by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites on 5 November 2024.
Hurricane Rafael brought very strong winds (>185 kmh) and heavy rainfall as it passed over Cuba. The storm caused extensive disruption damaging homes and causing a nationwide blackout, which affected millions of people.
Hurricane Rafael is the seventeenth named storm and fifth major hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season.
