GIIRS data now available on EUMETCast
Instrument onboard FY-4A satellite is now delivering the first operational data.
The China Meteorological Administration's FY-4A satellite is delivering Geostationary Interferometric Infrared Sounder data from onboard the Hyperspectral Infrared Sounder (GIIRS) as of yesterday, 24 April.

The FY-4A satellite mission objectives support:
- Nowcasting and severe weather warnings
- Regional and global Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)
- Climate applications
- Environment and disaster monitoring
