6th International Ocean Colour Science Meeting

The 6th International Ocean Colour Science (IOCS) Meeting will be held on 1-4 December 2025 at the Darmstadtium congress centre in Darmstadt, Germany. The associated training courses will take place on 5 December.

The IOCS-2025 meeting is an initiative of the International Ocean Colour Coordinating Group (IOCCG). It will be co-hosted by EUMETSAT and the European Space Agency (ESA), with support from the European Commission’s Copernicus Programme.

The meeting will cover optical radiometry of all water types, serving as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between the scientific community and space agencies. The aim of the conference is to drive forward ocean science and its applications by providing space agencies with consensus recommendations that will inform Ocean Colour developments, user services, and future missions.

The event will feature plenary and breakout sessions, interactive panel discussions and poster presentations, all centred around the theme of ‘Ocean Colour: serving Earth system science and our society’.
