The aims of the symposium are to collaborate on the latest developments and best practices of monitoring SST from satellites together with SST users, scientists and data producers. There will be a focus on topics such as high-resolution future satellite SST missions, impacts on operational weather forecasting and SST applications in India, climate data records and marine heat waves, validation methods and Fiducial Reference Measurements, and computing, tools and cloud developments.
The GHRSST is an open international science team of elected international experts, coordinating research and operational developments in satellite-derived SST, chaired by EUMETSAT since 2016. The EUMETSAT Ocean and Sea-ice Satellite Application Facility will also support the symposium. It provides level-2 data for EUMETSAT SST products from EPS/EPS-SG and MSG/MTG data.
A highlight of the symposium will be the training session for SST users, organised by the EUMETSAT Copernicus marine training team together with the various experts.
